The Diplomado

Physical clowning places the body as the primary means of communication, above words. Its language is built upon gesture, movement, rhythm, posture, and the physical relationship with space, objects, and the audience. It is not about "miming" in a technical sense, but rather about allowing the body to reveal the clown's vulnerability, desire, failure, and playfulness.
In physical clowning, the performer explores a state of presence where every physical impulse, a fall, a tremor, a look, an altered breath, becomes poetic and comic material.
The body exposes the clown himself, amplifying his clumsiness, contradictions, and most human reactions. Comedy arises from bodily sincerity, from visible mistakes and the inability to hide what the body expresses; from failing with pleasure, from persisting in the impossible, and from sharing the ridicule with the audience, adjusting his actions from within the body, freeing it from automatisms and judgments, and restoring its capacity for wonder, disobedience, and play.
